Automated Website Collection
Automated Website Collection
In Arkiwera, you can set up schedules for website collection. The automated collection creates a browsable copy of your website, which can be accessed directly in Arkiwera or a web browser.
We offer the ability to archive websites in both HTML format and WARC format (ISO-standardized file format for web preservation). During the archiving process, you can choose to convert file formats to meet the long-term preservation requirements of your specific archival authority.
Graphical elements, such as fonts and images, are preserved to ensure the website appears and functions exactly as it did when it was active.
The archival copy of the website is packaged into a so-called SIP (Submission Information Package) and can be exported from Arkiwera at any time. This make it easy to ingest the SIP to your e-archive!

Analysis and collection method based on your needs
The quality of the automated collection can vary depending on how your website is structured. We therefore offer the option of analysis with subsequent adaptations based on your website to ensure that all content is included in the archival copy.
Contact our account manager today for an analysis of your digital channels. After an initial analysis, we will present a price for you. Within an hour or so of accepting the offer, you can be up and running, preserving your website.
How Arkiwera Works
- 1. Select “Web collection” in the side menu.
- 2. Enter the URL of the website to archive (e.g., https://myorganization.com).
- 3. Name your archive (e.g., "MyOrg_Website_Archive").
- 4. Set collection frequency (e.g., weekly, monthly, annually).
- 5. Choose an archive format (HTML or WARC).
- 6. Define the archiving period (start and end dates).

After collection, a viewable snapshot is created, available for browsing even if the original website is taken offline.
You can also download the archive as a ZIP or WARC file and store it in your e-archive or document management system.
